Job summary

PAWS Chicago invites an exceptional HQHVSN veterinary surgeon to join our high-volume program in Chicago. You will perform extensive spay/neuter surgeries, manage soft tissue procedures, and collaborate with Shelter Medicine and Community Medicine teams to deliver comprehensive care for shelter and owned animals.

The ideal candidate has DVM, Illinois licensure, and a proven track record in high-volume surgical settings, with a commitment to safety and continual improvement.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent degree and Illinois veterinary license required.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work with shelter and clinical teams.
  • Demonstrated clinical judgment and commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries with emphasis on safety and efficiency.
  • Perform soft tissue procedures as needed (e.g., mass removals, amputations, dental extractions).
  • Monitor anesthesia and manage surgical complications; maintain medical records and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with shelter/clinic teams to ensure seamless patient care and protocol development.
  • Mentor staff and contribute to training initiatives; support complex medical cases across departments.
