Job summary

Desort is seeking an Associate Veterinarian (DVM) in Carbondale, IL to join a well-established small animal practice. You will provide medical, surgical, and preventive care, develop treatment plans, and communicate clearly with clients to promote optimal welfare.

The role supports ongoing learning, professional growth, and a collaborative team environment with strong mentorship and autonomy in clinical decisions.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary program.
• Active veterinary license or eligibility for licensure in Illinois.
• DEA license preferred or ability to obtain.
• USDA accreditation preferred or ability to obtain.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to continue learning and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care for companion animals.
• Perform wellness examinations, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and routine treatments.
• Develop appropriate treatment plans based on individual patient needs.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality patient care.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
• Participate in continued learning and professional development.
