Job description

Slatersville Veterinary Clinic is seeking an associate veterinarian. We are a privately owned, family-oriented practice in North Smithfield, RI. Our hours are 8-5pm Monday-Friday, with no on-call hours. We are looking for a caring, motivated individual to join our team. Benefits include health insurance, 401K, PTO, and employee discounts. Surgical experience and a willingness to mentor in surgery are advantageous, especially for our newer veterinarian who is almost 5 years out of school. We are a two-doctor practice looking for a full or part-time veterinarian, along with several experienced technicians.

We prioritize work-life balance while providing quality veterinary care. A love of surgery and dentistry would be a plus.

There is a significant community need for veterinary services, including routine and urgent care. We aim to maintain a friendly, helpful environment for clients and staff.

Our current schedule includes shifts from 8-5pm Monday, Tuesday mornings (8-2), 8-5pm Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday afternoons (1-5pm). We also seek to hire additional experienced technicians. Our team includes 3 full-time technicians, 2 part-time technicians, and a full-time receptionist. Several technicians are trained in surgery, dental mapping, cleaning, and radiographs.

We have an associate who sees exotics, and we are interviewing another veterinarian for exotic surgery. We also work with a board-certified internal medicine specialist for ultrasounds, a company for echocardiograms, and a board-certified surgeon for complex procedures like CCL repairs and soft tissue surgeries.

The compensation is negotiable and competitive with surrounding hospitals. Benefits include PTO (accrued), a 3% owner contribution to the 401K regardless of employee contribution, profit sharing, and generous pet discounts. Candidates should have at least 2 years of veterinary experience or a full-time internship, with proficient surgical skills for common procedures. Emergency surgeries are not typically performed unless the vet chooses to add that service. We do see many urgent appointments.
