About You

The Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine is the only exclusive avian and exotic veterinary hospital in New York City. We believe these special pets deserve compassionate veterinarians who have dedicated their careers solely to exotic pet care.

We have a customized facility where exotic pets will receive state-of-the-art medical and surgical care in a peaceful and calm environment free from dogs and cats. Our veterinary assistants are utilized and included in all aspects of patient care and are an invaluable part of our team. We provide an emotionally intelligent work environment with a positive work/life balance and invest heavily in our employees' long-term health and happiness!

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM / VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • State Veterinary Board License and must be in good standing for the state in which they intend to be hired, prior to their start date.
  • Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible.

About the Hospital

At the Center for Avian & Exotic Medicine, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, we have a customized facility where exotic pets will receive state-of-the-art medical and surgical care in a peaceful and calm environment free from dogs and cats. Our team caters to birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, small ruminants, and wildlife as pets (such as squirrels, pigeons, etc.). We also offer TeleVet services for any patients that have been seen by one of our vets in the last 12 months.

We are located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. With everything NYC offers including great restaurants, theater, and more, and our close proximity to Central Park, Riverside Park, and public transportation, this is a great place to live and practice veterinary medicine.

We are open Monday – Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an annual PROSAL full-time range starting at $160,000/year. The salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
