Job summary

Big Island Pet Care Center seeks a dedicated Veterinarian to join a community-focused team on Hawai‘i Island. You will perform wellness exams, surgeries, and comprehensive care while building trust with clients and supporting a collaborative, mentorship‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough physical examinations and routine checkups.
  • Conduct surgeries including spays, neuters, mass removals, wound repairs, and dental surgeries with proper anesthesia and pain management.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans.
  • Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments.
  • Provide client education on preventive care and post‑operative recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Collaborate with the team to uphold high standards of care and client service.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinarian to join our dynamic, community-focused team. Youll work in a thriving clinical environment equipped with modern tools and supported by a close-knit staff. From conducting wellness exams to performing a variety of soft-tissue surgeries, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive care while building trust with clients and making a real difference in pets' lives. You will be working alongside a seasoned veterinarian who values collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough physical examinations, routine checkups, and urgent care evaluations
  • Conduct a range of surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, mass removals, wound repairs, and dental surgeries, while ensuring best practices for anesthesia and pain management
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and develop effective treatment plans
  • Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments
  • Provide client education on preventive care, treatment options, and post-operative recovery
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Work collaboratively with the team to uphold the highest standards of care and client service

What Were Looking For

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree with an active Hawaiiveterinary license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • At least 1 year of veterinary experience; surgical proficiency or a strong interest in developing surgical skills is highly preferred
