Job description

Flagstaff Veterinary Clinic | Flagstaff, AZ | Full-Time, 3-Day Work Week

Flagstaff Veterinary Clinic is an independent, owner-operated emergency and urgent care hospital, and we're growing fast. We're looking for an associate veterinarian who loves the pace and problem-solving of emergency medicine but is done with the parts of the job that burn good doctors out. If you've ever wondered whether there's a hospital that actually has your back, this is it.

A schedule that lets you have a life. Our doctors work a three-day week. That's not a perk we added to a job posting to sound competitive; it's how we've built our scheduling, because we believe rested doctors make better decisions and stay in this profession longer. You'll have four days a week to recover, spend time with your people, and enjoy everything Northern Arizona has to offer, from hiking and skiing to having a whole weekday free when everyone else is at work.

A nursing team that makes your job easier. You'll work alongside an exceptional, highly skilled nursing staff who know emergency medicine, anticipate what you need, and take real ownership of patient care. Our team is the reason our hospital runs the way it does, and we invest heavily in hiring, training, and keeping great people. You won't be carrying the whole shift on your shoulders.

A client policy that actually protects you. This is the part candidates usually ask about twice. We have zero tolerance for abusive, threatening, or harassing client behavior, and we mean it. Ownership steps in to handle difficult clients directly so our doctors and staff don't have to absorb that treatment as part of the job. Clients who can't treat our team with basic respect will be asked to seek care elsewhere. Protecting our staff is what allows us to give outstanding emergency care to the many clients who come in kind, grateful, and simply scared for their pets. You get to focus on managing your cases, not managing unruly people.

Independent, and staying that way. We're not owned by a corporate group, and decisions here are made by people who work in the building. That means your feedback goes somewhere, policies make sense on the floor, and the culture you're hired into isn't going to change after the next acquisition.

What you'll do

You'll see a steady mix of emergency and urgent care cases, from stabilization and diagnostics to surgery, collaborating closely with our nursing team and fellow doctors. You'll have the autonomy to practice good medicine and the support to do it well, in a hospital that's busy enough to keep your skills sharp and organized enough that busy doesn't mean miserable.

What we're looking for
  • DVM degree and eligibility for an Arizona veterinary license
  • Strong emergency and urgent care background
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude with nursing staff
  • Comfort making decisions in a fast-paced environment
What we offer
  • Three-day work week
  • Competitive compensation
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance coverage
  • An owner-led hospital culture where your well-being is treated as a priority, not an afterthought

If you want to practice emergency medicine somewhere that respects your time, your skills, and your sanity, we'd love to talk.
