We are seeking a Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to join our amazing team!


About Us:


Hilton Veterinary Clinic of Ferndale in Ferndale, MI is a dedicated and growing practice committed to providing exceptional veterinary care to the Ferndale community and surrounding areas. Our clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic tools, including digital radiology and Idexx in-house laboratory machines such as CBC, Chemistry, Sedivue, and Snap Pro. We also utilize ultrasound technology for procedures like cystocentesis and offer dental prophylaxis services, including dental radiology.


Whether you are a new graduate or an experienced doctor, we are the practice for you! Our supportive work environment enables doctors to pursue their interests in vet med. We are passionate about mentoring and supporting veterinarians through our Mentorship and Leadership Development programs. Our Mentors receive extensive mentorship training and are now Certified Clinical Mentors, so any new graduates can participate in a structured and rewarding mentorship program.

Position Overview:


We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to our patients and exceptional service to their owners. This role offers an excellent opportunity for both professional growth and contribution to the advancement of our clinic.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform comprehensive medical examinations and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  2. Conduct surgical procedures in our fully equipped surgery suite.
  3. Interpret diagnostic tests, including digital radiographs and laboratory results.
  4. Provide dental care services, utilizing our dental prophylaxis equipment and dental radiology.
  5. Collaborate effectively with our veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care.
  6. Engage in client education, addressing concerns and providing guidance on pet health maintenance.

Qualifications:

  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  2. Active and clear Michigan DVM license.
  3. All experience levels are welcome to apply; mentorship is available for new graduates.

Responsibilities / Qualifications


How you'll make an impact:

  1. Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  2. Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients.
  1. Maintain excellent client communication.
  2. Record all pertinent medical, client, and case-related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  3. Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  4. Call clients for follow-up and to discuss results.
  5. Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas.
  1. Maintain practice growth and review financial reports.
  2. Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions.
  3. Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management.
  4. Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  5. Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development towards goals.
  1. Provide feedback and changes to the training program.
  2. Provide guidance to support staff to ensure smooth shift flow.
  3. Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations.

Qualifications


Ideal Qualifications:

  1. Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team.
  2. Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment.
  1. Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
  2. Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and handle a fast-paced environment.
  3. Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  4. Ability to give SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  5. Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to explain them to clients.
  6. Knowledge of common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
  7. Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover a patient from anesthesia.
  8. The employee must have reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language skills (reading, writing, and speaking English) to perform duties proficiently.
  9. Proficiency in the use of practice management software is required.
