Job description

Penryn Pet Hospital is seeking an associate veterinarian to join our veterinarian-owned, four-doctor practice in the heart of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Conveniently located just off Interstate 80, our well-respected general practice serves a diverse community and offers a growing range of rehabilitation services. Our hospital opened in 2024 and was thoughtfully designed to support excellent patient care and a comfortable experience for clients and staff.

Our modern facility features:

• Fully equipped surgical and dental suites
• Digital radiography
• In-house laboratory analyzers
• Ultrasound
• A spacious treatment area
• An attached coffee shop and pet-friendly atrium

Our rehabilitation services include shockwave therapy, cold laser therapy, acupuncture, underwater treadmill therapy, and therapeutic joint injections. We also work regularly with mobile specialists in surgery, radiology, and cardiology, giving our doctors access to collaborative care and advanced case support.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution
• Current California veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain one
• Commitment to compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based medicine
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues
• Sound clinical judgment and a willingness to seek input when appropriate
• Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client-service staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in small-animal general practice, including preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery
• Confidence managing routine appointments, urgent cases, and hospitalized day patients
