Atlas Consultancy Group is partnering with a brand new AAHA‑accredited small animal hospital in Alexandria, VA, inviting a DVM to join as the second doctor. You will work closely with an experienced Medical Lead while developing your own caseload in a true startup environment.

The hospital features a dedicated dental suite, modern diagnostic and monitoring equipment, and a strong support team. No overnight, no on‑call, and no Wednesday/Sunday hours, with one solo day per week.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US.
• Virginia licensure eligibility or current Virginia license.
• Comfortable with at least one day per week of solo doctor coverage.
• Independent thinker who enjoys the pace and variety of a young practice.
• Motivated to help grow a hospital rather than step into a finished one.
• Collaborative and communicative with client relationships.
• Newer graduates welcome if they can cover solo day.

Job description

We are working on behalf of a brand new, AAHA accredited small animal hospital in Alexandria, VA that is ready to welcome its second doctor.

The hospital opened its doors around eight months ago and has grown quickly, so this is a genuine ground floor opportunity to help shape a young practice rather than inherit someone else's. The facility itself is purpose built to a high standard, with a separate operating room, a dedicated dental suite, and modern diagnostic and monitoring equipment throughout.

The founding Medical Lead is already in place and is looking for a colleague, not a pair of hands, so you would be working in close partnership with an experienced doctor while still having real ownership of your own cases.

The support team is strong and well trained, and the wider group provides the operational backing that startup hospitals usually go without. Caseload is 100 percent general practice, with no urgent care or emergency rotation.

Days vary the way they do in any young hospital, with some genuinely busy and some quieter, and there is at least one day a week of solo doctor coverage. That makes this a better fit for someone who enjoys working independently and wants to see a practice grow around them.

Newer graduates will be considered, provided you are comfortable holding your own on a solo day and are motivated by building something. If you have been looking for the autonomy of a startup with the equipment and support of an established group, this is worth a conversation.

ABOUT YOU

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in Virginia

• Motivated to help grow a hospital rather than step into a finished one -
