Your team, role and impact:
BlackRock's US Wealth Advisory business ("USWA") manages the firm's relationships with US retail financial services firms and their advisors, who ultimately serve end investors. Representing a full suite of strategies - from iShares ETFs and mutual funds to SMAs, model portfolios, alternatives, portfolio solutions, and sub-advisory programs - USWA's mandate is to deliver "One BlackRock" to our clients.
The USWA COO Strategy Team plays an integral role at the intersection of business strategy, client and product strategy, and operational risk management for US Wealth. We are seeking an individual to join our team as an Associate, US Wealth Advisory Industry and Competitive Intelligence. The role is based in New York.
Key Responsibilities:
Industry and Competitive Intelligence:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain a repository of competitive intelligence, including competitor profiles, market share analysis, and benchmarking reports.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify key insights and opportunities for growth and differentiation.
- Monitor and analyze regulatory changes and their potential impact on the industry and business operations.
Data Analysis and Reporting:- Utilize core reporting tools to translate data into actionable business insights; identify improvements around our business processes and reporting.
- Develop and deliver regular reports and presentations to senior management, highlighting key findings and strategic recommendations.
- Partner with data science, management, and analytics teams to leverage advanced analytical techniques and tools (e.g., R, Python, PowerBI) to enhance data-driven decision-making and storage of structured/unstructured data (e.g., Cerulli reports and data).
Business Management:- Partner with the broader COO strategy function and sales and product pillar leads to develop our business narrative, focus areas, and constructs for execution.
- Support the organization of strategic meeting series and presentations (i.e., QBR, Board, GEC, ExCos, BizCos, offsites, etc.).
- Seek out efficiencies within our processes with an eye to mitigating risk.
You have:- At least 3 years of relevant experience (i.e., industry research, competitive intelligence, strategy), with finance or asset-management experience preferred.
- A desire to build deep knowledge of BlackRock's lines of business and provide recommendations that will help USWA deliver to our clients and stakeholders.
- Hands-on approach and a passion for digging into industry and competitive intelligence issues with the curiosity of a journalist and the diligence of an auditor.
- A strong ability to translate data into narratives tailored for different audiences.
- Background in data analysis and statistical principles; some experience automating data collection and building data visualizations (i.e., R, Python, PowerBI, Excel, PowerBI).
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments, priorities, and situations.
- A team-player mentality, positive attitude, and willingness to lend a hand where help is needed to advance the team's ability to drive growth and operate effectively.
- Strong project management skills.
- FINRA Series 7, 66 and 24 a plus.
