Associate Underwriter Overview

The Associate Underwriter reviews, markets, and prices new and renewal applications, endorsements, and related documents within the company/agency granted authority. The Associate supports underwriters and agents to ensure delivery, follow‑up, and servicing of all new business and renewal accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Perform risk selection and analysis by examining documents such as application forms, inspection reports, financial reports, product brochures, and company referral agreements.
  • Build relationships with agents through in‑house placement of new business.
  • Communicate effectively with agents, brokers, company underwriters, internal staff, and management to obtain additional information, quote rates, and service existing accounts.
  • Connect with carrier underwriters to learn coverage, guidelines, and technology.
  • Maintain renewal book of business and premium as required.
  • Address assigned workload within quality, productivity, and service standards set by the company/underwriting guidelines.
  • Provide timely responses to questions posed by brokers, clients, underwriters, and other company personnel.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of similar experience in the insurance industry.
  • Functional knowledge of product offerings, insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and a drive for customer excellence.
  • In‑office position.
Compensation and Benefits

The base salary will be based on compensable factors such as education, experience, training, licensure, competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded. Jencap offers a range of benefits, including comprehensive health care coverage, a 401(k) plan, and tuition reimbursement.
