Position Summary

The Underwriting Associate supports the underwriter by assessing underwriting applications, reviewing applicant information, evaluating risk factors, and ensuring compliance with guidelines. They collaborate across departments to gather information, analyze data, and contribute to risk assessments.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform duties according to departmental guidelines.
2. Analyze complex risks, prepare reports, and present findings to management.
3. Review submission information with underwriters, including account analysis.
4. Coordinate quoting, binding, and issuance processes.
5. Research and apply appropriate rates, coverages, and policy forms.
6. Issue notices of cancellation, nonrenewal, or reinstatement.
7. Develop relationships with underwriters, producers, brokers, and reinsurers.
8. Maintain accurate documentation per company guidelines.
9. Manage agency/broker relationships to achieve profitable outcomes on high-risk business.
10. Handle special underwriting projects and other assigned duties.

Work Experience and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Risk Management preferred.
• 1+ year related experience or similar role.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• High level of insurance and underwriting knowledge.

Licenses & Certifications:

• State P&C and/or surplus line licenses (minimum).
• Preferred: AIS certification.
