Job Opportunity

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) offers a rare chance to enter a dynamic, high-growth sector with direct exposure to major deals, seasoned mentors, and real upward mobility.

The Associate Underwriter will be working very closely with our underwriters to pre-qualify new business, analyze construction property exposures, and leverage experience and expertise to make sound underwriting decisions. The candidate will develop an understanding of the Builder’s Risk Insurance policy wordings and ultimately support the team in reviewing and issuing documents. This position will also offer opportunities to build relationships with key brokers and customers.

This position is located in Atlanta, GA.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review submission documents including but not limited to plans, project timelines, and site details to structure insurance terms
  • Work directly with brokers, in-house engineers, and senior underwriters to assess risk profiles
  • Learn underwriting principles, construction risk nuances, and deal structuring on the job
  • Underwrite and evaluate builder’s risk exposures for mid-size and large construction projects

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • 0-2 years of work experience (recent grads welcome!)
  • Strong verbal communication – comfortable picking up the phone and thinking on your feet
  • High energy, hard-working, and loves to multi-task
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
  • Eager to learn and open to feedback – a “sponge” mindset
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a no-excuses attitude

The base salary range for this position in Atlanta is $70,000, along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
