Under general supervision performs a variety of ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative to assist in medical diagnosis and assessment. Performs the work of the Ultrasound Technologist and, in addition, performs the following duties:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Selects appropriate software and imaging parameters, when positioning and adjusting equipment to encompass the area to be studied and produce optimal diagnostic imaging quality.


Performs more advanced ultrasound procedures on patients. Deviates from the normal ultrasound examination to complete the procedure, when necessary.


Assists physicians and other health care personnel by providing information regarding the nature, scheduling, or results of procedures performed within the Ultrasound Department.


Assists in the development of new tests by performing comparison studies and clinical trials, and implements these new procedures.


May plan, schedule, and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the department to ensure the continuous flow of work.


Participates in the development of quality control and quality assurance procedures and instructs other appropriate technical personnel on aspects of their routine use.


Plans, schedules and coordinates the day-to-day activities to ensure the continuous flow of work.


Assists in developing quality control procedures and quality assurance and instructs other technical personnel on aspects of their routine use.


Conducts training programs in ultrasonography.


Assists in the development of new tests by performing comparison studies and clinical trials, and implements these new procedures.


Assists physicians with special procedures such as biopsies and aspirations.


Attends regularly scheduled department meetings i.e., staff, in-service, training, Pl.


Checks the requisition form for completion, physician notes, physician signature, and/or special instructions.


All other duties as required by the department.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Valid certification in Sonography issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); and
2. One (1) year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
