Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Associate Town Planner to join our York team on a permanent, hybrid basis. You will manage a varied portfolio of commercial planning projects, provide strategic planning advice, and take ownership from inception to completion.

The successful candidate will be Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) with strong commercial planning experience in a consultancy, capable of client liaison, planning applications, mentoring junior staff, and driving business growth.

Carrington west are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate Town Planner to join their growing team in York. The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will be involved in a varied portfolio of commercial planning projects, providing strategic planning advice and managing projects from inception through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a range of commercial planning projects.
• Providing high-quality planning advice to clients.
• Preparing and submitting planning applications.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Undertaking planning research and preparing planning appraisals.
• Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.
• Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Representing clients at meetings and discussions with planning authorities and stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant experience within a consultancy environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• MRTPI / Chartered Town Planner status.
• Strong commercial planning experience.
• Experience managing planning projects and client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic planning advice.
