Job summary

NTN Bearing Corporation in Wheeling, IL, is seeking a Test Engineer to support the NTN Test Lab by ensuring performance and reliability of bearing solutions. The role is highly hands-on with access to testing machines and advanced metrology equipment.

You will manage test programs from planning to reporting, collaborate with engineers and technicians, and work with vendors on tooling and services. Strong CAD skills and a mechanical mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSME preferred).
• 1–5 years of hands‑on engineering experience (internships considered).
• Experience with 3D CAD software.
• Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and drive to conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Manage test projects from inception to completion, including planning, tooling design, troubleshooting, data collection, and reporting.
• Use advanced metrology equipment to review tested bearings and verify tooling accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineers, metallurgists, and technicians on bearing projects.
• Manage relationships with outside vendors and suppliers related to tooling and services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

This highly hands‑on role involves a wide variety of responsibilities with a primary focus on product testing. You will have access to a variety of testing machines as well as advanced metrology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage test projects from inception to completion, including determining optimal methods, developing test plans, designing tooling, troubleshooting, collecting data, and presenting results in detailed formal written reports.
• Utilize advanced metrology equipment to review tested bearings and confirm accuracy of developed tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers, metallurgists, and technicians on a wide range of bearing‑related projects.
• Manage relationships with outside vendors and suppliers related to tooling and services.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSME preferred).
• 1–5 years of hands‑on engineering experience (internships considered).
• Uses engineering principles to solve problems and develop appropriate action plans.
• Possesses solid communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
• Collaborates with peers and supervisors for guidance, escalating problems and roadblocks as they occur.
• Experience with 3D CAD software.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience doing hands‑on mechanical work and comfortable utilizing a variety of tools.
• Ability to work independently on multiple simultaneous projects and drive each to formal conclusion.

Requirements

The base salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000, based on job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
