General Function

Major Duties and Responsibilities

You will focus on one of the following areas, with cross-training opportunities in the future:

Coating Area

• Clipper: Clipping and securing lenses into baskets to prepare for coating.
• Machine Operator: Preparing and operating coating machines, including loading chemicals and lenses.
• Inspector: Ensuring lenses meet optical and cosmetic standards.

Finishing Area

• Beveler: Removing sharp edges from lenses.
• Mounter: Inserting lenses into frames ensuring proper fit and alignment.
• Edger Operator: Cutting lenses to size and shape to fit frames.
• Finish Layout Preparer: Outlining markings and preparing lenses for edging.
• Tinter: Tinting lenses accurately.
• Inspector: Checking lenses and frames for quality.

Surfacing Area

• Surfacing Blocker: Securing lenses for surfacing and applying protective tape.
• Surface Finer/Polisher: Finishing and polishing lenses.
• Lens Washer: Hand washing, drying, and inspecting lenses.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• 1+ years of related manufacturing experience; lab experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet standards in a dynamic environment, with good depth perception and manual dexterity.
• Strong communication skills.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout shifts.
• Willingness to work with chemicals and in wet/dusty environments.
• Availability for overtime as needed.
