Job summary

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. seeks an Associate Technical Service Representative to join the Bandag team. This hands-on role offers field experience with industrial retread equipment and requires travel across the assigned territory, with several months of training in Muscatine, IA.

Preferred location within an hour of Greensboro, NC. Training includes a company credit card, cell phone and internet allowances, 4 weeks of PTO annually, and a company vehicle after training.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a technical field required (e.g., mechanical or electrical engineering technology)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • Military electronics experience can substitute for an Associate's degree
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills and ability to train others

Responsibilities

  • Provide equipment service and uptime for industrial retread machinery
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
  • Perform routine calibrations and install hardware/software kits
  • Train dealer personnel on operation and maintenance of retread equipment
  • Manage plant installation and modification projects from start to finish
  • Coordinate with external contractors to meet timelines and specs
  • Conduct audits to ensure quality and franchise compliance
  • Analyze production data to identify improvements and KPIs
  • Build and maintain relationships with Bandag dealers and regional teams
  • Support long-term SR plans and optimize material flow

Position Summary

As an Associate Technical Service Representative, you will join the Bandag team and participate in a comprehensive training program designed to prepare you to manage a dedicated territory independently. This exciting technical role provides hands‑on experience with industrial retread equipment and requires travel throughout the assigned territory. Training will require each new teammate to spend several months in Muscatine, IA and occasionally in the field with another TSR, returning home on weekends. This person will also receive a company credit card, a cell phone allowance, an internet allowance, and 4 weeks of PTO annually. During the training period, travel is expected to range between 50% and 75%. A company vehicle is provided after training is complete.


Preferred Location: within an hour commute or so from Greensboro, North Carolina


Key Responsibilities


  • Equipment Service and Uptime

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex industrial retread equipment (electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems).

  • Perform routine equipment calibrations and install hardware/software kits.

  • Train dealer personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of all major retread equipment to maximize service life and productivity.

  • Plant Installation and Modification

  • Manage plant installation and modification projects from initiation to completion, including equipment, beam, and monorail systems.

  • Coordinate and meet with external contractors to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.

  • Quality and Operational Excellence

  • Conduct Bandag Systems Audits and UPS Audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and franchise agreements.

  • Analyze plant production data, identify productivity constraints, and develop action plans to drive operational improvements and quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Dealer Support and Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Bandag dealers and Area Management Teams.

  • Contribute to 3-year strategic resource (SR) plans and provide ongoing support for material flow and production efficiency.

  • Document all dealer visits and service activities accurately.

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications


  • Education: Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related coursework)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Military experience/training in electronics or electrical systems will be considered equivalent to an Associate's degree.

  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to effectively train others.
