Pay Rate: $42.00–$45.00/hour – Based on experience (Paid Weekly)

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a motivated Software Systems Engineer to support our client's development of innovative cancer diagnostic technologies in Tucson, AZ.

This position focuses on software systems engineering, requirements development, system architecture, risk management, and software verification and validation (V&V) for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of relevant experience, a strong understanding of software integration and testing, and familiarity with regulated medical device or diagnostic environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering principles throughout the software product development lifecycle.
• Develop, analyze, and manage software and system requirements.
• Support system architecture design and implementation of software solutions.
• Perform risk analysis, tradeoff analysis, and configuration management.
• Support software integration, verification, and validation (V&V) activities.
• Track and manage software defects and technical issues.
• Ensure software solutions align with applicable FDA, ISO, and IVD regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
• Work with business stakeholders and Voice of the Customer (VoC) representatives to translate customer needs into technical requirements.
• Research emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Analyze technical challenges, recommend solutions, and support engineering decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or a related technical field.
• 1–2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Knowledge of software integration, testing, and requirements engineering.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and software development lifecycles.
• Familiarity with risk management, tradeoff analysis, configuration management, and defect tracking.
• Knowledge of software verification and validation (V&V).
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with FDA, ISO, and applicable diagnostic product standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Interest in emerging technologies and the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in software systems engineering or a related field.
• Experience supporting medical devices, diagnostic instruments, or IVD software development.
• Knowledge of software reliability, manufacturability, and usability.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and product development teams.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ability to influence technical decisions.
