Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety, a unit of Liberty Mutual Insurance, invites you to join the Surety Underwriting Development Program (SUDP) as an Associate Surety Underwriter. The 12-month program builds technical, analytical, and business skills through rotations and mentorship.

You will evaluate financial statements, assess risk, and build relationships with agents and customers while pursuing the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business with ≥3.0 GPA.
• Experience reading financial statements; basic financial analysis.
• 0–2 years of professional experience.
• Willing to relocate after program completion.
• Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn to evaluate financial strength, credit, and operational capabilities.
• Analyze financial statements and contract risk for underwriting.
• Support underwriting decisions with case studies and analysis.
• Develop relationships with agents, brokers, customers and partners.
• Hone communication, business development and negotiation skills.
