Job summary

Enterris Associates, a trusted construction management firm in California, seeks an Associate Structural Engineer with strong design and contract administration skills. The role focuses on planning, analyzing and reviewing design plans and specifications for complex infrastructure projects including school buildings.

Required is a Bachelor’s in structural/civil engineering and three years of related experience; CA PE preferred.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years full-time paid professional structural engineering experience, emphasis on school building construction preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering courses.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification recognized by CA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex structural engineering work for design plans, specs, estimates and reports.
  • Reviews contract administration for structural services provided by consultants and architects.
  • Prepares structural design plans, cost estimates and QA plans for construction and maintenance of buildings.
  • Assists in reviews of project status, changes and feasibility of construction methods.
  • Designs foundation, floor, wall and roof framing layouts for major structures.
  • Makes recommendations to contractors and designers on structural issues during construction.
  • Analyzes environmental reports and soils data for foundation design considerations.
  • Prepares feasibility reports and scoping recommendations for proposed structures.

Title: Associate Structural Engineer
Essential Job Duties
  • Performs moderately complex structural engineering work to include the preparation, analysis and review of design plans, specifications, estimates, and reports to comply with guidelines set by both federal, state, and local agencies for maintenance and operations (M&O) for architectural and engineering projects.
  • Performs contract administration in the review of structural services required of engineering consultants and architects and make appropriate revisions and recommendations.
  • Prepares structural design plans and specifications, quality assurance plans, conceptual and detailed cost estimates, and other reports necessary for the construction, maintenance and operation of various concrete, structural steel, timber, masonry, metal, timber, timber structures, and other related materials.
  • Assists in the review of project status, initiates changes and provides advice and assistance to structural designers and other engineering and design staff.
  • Assists in the review of structural plans and specifications, design, and mathematical calculations in the completion of structural engineering projects and assignments as well as creating cost and expenditure requirements for alternate means of construction.
  • Assists in the review of completed structural work for conformance to recognized standards and feasibility of construction as well as completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists in the design and layout of foundation, floor, wall, and roof framing plans for major building structures.
  • Makes recommendations to contractors, architects, engineers, and construction inspectors on structural issues during construction.
  • Analyzes environmental impact reports, negative declarations, and soils tests data to make appropriate recommendations for foundation design.
  • Prepares feasibility reports and preliminary design for proposed structures and facilities under construction.
  • Performs site investigations and prepare scoping reports and recommendations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
  • Three (3) years full-time paid professional structural engineering experience, an emphasis on school building construction is preferred.
Education/Training/Licenses/Certificate
  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering courses.
  • Possession of a Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) recognized by the State of CA Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists is preferred.
Compensation
  • This role is salaried/exempt with a base annual salary range of $134,700.00 - $144,700.00 and commensurate with skill, education, experience, and work location.
  • This role is bonus eligible after 6 months of employment.
