Job Description and Duties

ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHEOLOGIST – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / CULTURAL RESOURCES / COLUMBIA STATE HISTORIC PARK

The reporting location for this position is Columbia State Historic Park in Columbia, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Park and Recreation Specialist.

The Central Valley District is looking for a motivated employee who is interested in working throughout various park units including but not limited to Dos Rios, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Columbia State Historic Park, Pacheco State Park, San Luis Reservoir SRA, Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, and Wassama Roundhouse. This position is responsible for reviewing and monitoring all pertinent archeological resource projects throughout the Central Valley and will act as an assistant tribal liaison. Experience and/or willingness to learn CEQA/AB52, NEPA and Section 106 is desired. The archeologist will participate as a member of multi-disciplinary teams evaluating, making recommendations and/or implementing plans and projects that affect historic resources.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
