Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior biotech investments professional to evaluate therapeutic programs from discovery through clinical design and to guide investment opportunities.

You will interface with academics, biotechs, patient groups, and the Investment Committee, shaping strategy and collaborating across clinical, commercial, and disease experts.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a life sciences field (MD/PhD).
• Experience in post-doctoral research or biotech/business development is highly preferred.
• Strong ability to communicate concisely in writing and slides.
• Broad knowledge of biotech and pharmaceutical companies in precision medicine.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate therapeutic programs from genetic rationale to clinical trial design.
• Review affiliates' progress at key development milestones.
• Build scientific and business cases for potential investments in genetic diseases.
• Interface with academics, patient advocacy groups, biotechs, and entrepreneurs.
• Lead internal discussions with management and the Investment Committee.
• Establish an investment strategy and identify new opportunities.
• Coordinate with clinical, commercial, and disease SMEs.

Job description

• Evaluate all aspects of therapeutic programs, from genetic rationale and preclinical evidence through development plans and clinical trial design
• Review GondolaBio affiliates' progress at critical development phases
• Build scientific and business cases for potential investments targeting genetic disease sources
• Interface with leading academics, patient advocacy groups, biotechs, and entrepreneurs
• Lead internal discussions with management and the Investment Committee
• Establish an investment strategy and identify new investment opportunities
• Coordinate with internal clinical, commercial, and disease subject-matter experts
• Help shape company culture and business development direction

Requirements

• Strong aptitude for and interest in science
• Excellent communication skills, including concise and cogent writing and PowerPoint abilities
• Advanced technical degree (MD or PhD) required
• Previous experience in post-doctoral research with biotech business interest, a top-tier life sciences consulting firm, venture capital, or biotech/life sciences startup business development strongly preferred
• Experience and confidence working across a wide range of therapeutic areas
• Broad knowledge of biotech and pharmaceutical companies in precision medicine
• Curious, strong work ethic, and teamwork orientation
