Title: Associate Scientist Research and Development

Location: Abbott Park, IL

Duration: 12+ Months

100% Onsite

Primary function:

Will be molecular biology and protein biochemistry. This is individual contributor role in a technical area requiring hands-on work in a life sciences laboratory setting. Candidate will work as a team member in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with tangible goals. Enthusiasm and a willingness to work on a team is strongly preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Candidate will be responsible for the execution of technical studies in the areas of molecular biology and protein biochemistry, including literature review, recombinant protein expression and characterization.
• Candidate will be responsible for the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and will be responsible for the collection, recording, and interpretation of data.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: recombinant protein cloning, expression, purification, or characterization.
• Experience in protein engineering or the execution of enzymatic assays is desirable.
• Knowledge and familiarity with high throughput microplate readers, automated liquid handling, and statistical data analysis systems is a plus.
• Experimental procedures: Conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes date.
• Recommends options from other experiments.
• Presents data within team.

Expertise and Problem Solving: Troubleshoots instrumentation or experiments; recognizes and assist in technical problems.

Project Planning: Participates in planning project tasks; providing input to accomplish assigned tasks.

Lab Safety: Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.

Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures.
