Job summary

Fate Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Quality Control (QC) team at our San Diego headquarters. In this role you will perform molecular assay execution, including ddPCR, and DNA/RNA extraction, with cross-training in flow cytometry and cell-based potency methods.

You will support routine investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to ensure compliant testing and timely data generation in a fast-paced biopharma environment.

Qualifications

• MS or BS degree in a scientific discipline.
• 5+ years biotechnology, clinical, or pharmaceutical lab experience.
• Experience in regulated environments (GMP/GLP/CLIA) preferred.
• Hands-on with qPCR/ddPCR; flow cytometry or cell-based assays a plus.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process control, lot release, and stability testing using ddPCR, flow cytometry, and/or cell-based potency assays.
• Execute sample receipt and processing for release/stability testing and retains.
• Ensure compliant execution of testing and project deliverables per procedures.
• Draft and maintain analytical test methods, specifications, and sampling plans.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on method development, qualification, and validation.
