Job summary

Fate Therapeutics seeks an Associate Scientist to join the Quality Control team at our San Diego HQ. The role emphasizes molecular assays (ddPCR, DNA/RNA extraction) with opportunities in flow cytometry and potency methods across platforms.

You will contribute to investigations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement, while building broad technical skills and ensuring compliant lab operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MS or BS degree in a scientific discipline required.
• Minimum 5+ years of biotechnology/clinical/pharmaceutical lab experience.
• Hands-on qPCR and ddPCR experience required; flow cytometry or cell-based assays preferred.
• Proficiency with aseptic techniques for working with cells and human samples is desired.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process control, lot release, and stability testing using ddPCR, flow cytometry, and/or cell-based potency assays.
• Process sample receipt and processing for release/stability testing and retails.
• Ensure compliant execution of testing and project deliverables per procedures and quality requirements.
• Draft and maintain analytical test methods, SOPs, specifications, and sampling plans.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on method development, transfer, and qualification/validation activities.
• Lead cross-functional training efforts and support investigations, CAPAs, and quality events.
• Identify improvements to enhance QC processes, data quality, and efficiency.
• Onboard and support qualification/maintenance of new equipment with Facilities.
