Job description

About Stylus Medicine:

Stylus Medicine is developing transformative in vivo genetic medicines to unlock cures. The company combines engineered recombinases with non-viral delivery methods to encode therapeutics specifically. Their approach is versatile and modular, with potential applications across oncology, autoimmune, genetic diseases, and beyond.

About the Role:

Stylus Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Associate Scientist to join our in vivo Pharmacology team. This role involves performing hands-on in vivo studies using murine oncology and non-oncology models, supporting the development of genetic medicines leveraging engineered recombinases delivered through non-viral methods. Reporting to the Senior Scientist of in vivo Pharmacology, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to innovative therapeutic advancements.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Conduct experiments in murine oncology and non-oncology models to evaluate recombinase-based engineering of immune cells, including tumor cell injection/implantation, immune cell and test article dosing, tissue collection, bioimaging, and tissue processing.
  • Prepare tumor cells and PBMCs for injections and process samples for downstream analyses.
  • Collaborate with in vivo pharmacology team members to execute experiments and coordinate analyses.
  • Follow SOPs and IACUC protocols.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and produce study reports to guide project decisions.
  • Communicate findings effectively within internal teams.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth research progression.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate laboratory records in line with data integrity standards.
  • Work with regulatory and preclinical teams to document non-clinical findings for submissions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in Pharmacology, Immunology, Immuno-oncology, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience in in vivo pharmacology techniques, including mouse handling, surgical procedures, IV injections, tumor model development, and tissue analysis.
  • Ability to execute, interpret, and troubleshoot in vivo studies.
  • Experience with immune cell handling, tumor cell culturing, and tumor model establishment in mice.
  • Familiarity with T cell or PBMC isolation and immunological/molecular assays.
  • Experience with delivery technologies like LNP or CART and genetic platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency with ex vivo techniques such as flow cytometry, cytokine analysis, and ddPCR is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new techniques, multitask, and maintain organized records.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear insights.
