Position: Associate Scientist I

This position is part of the Upstream Process Development team in the Protein Business Unit of Aldevron. It is an on-site role located in Madison, WI. At Aldevron, we combine best-in-class products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide.

You will be part of the Technical Operations team and report to the Upstream Process Development manager. Your responsibilities will include developing processes to produce recombinant proteins using microbial host expression systems.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Complete all assigned laboratory work, including execution, analysis, and reporting of protein expression projects.
2. Design and execute process development experiments with moderate guidance using existing strategies.
3. Share project data during client or internal meetings, with guidance.
4. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary scientists on development and manufacturing projects, playing an integral role on project teams.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• College degree in biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field, with the following relevant experience: Associate with 3+ years; Bachelor's with 1+ years; Master’s with none.
• Experience working in a microbial laboratory environment.
• Understanding of microbial expression system variables.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

• Experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and data analysis.
• Experience running fermentation systems.
