Job summary

Vaxcyte seeks an energetic Analytical Development team member to support developmental activities in the laboratory. You will oversee chemical inventory, maintain lab operations, and assist in preparing samples for analysis and assay execution.

Responsibilities include performing microplate, HPLC, and iCIEF assays, maintaining records, and collaborating with the team to meet project timelines. Onsite work 4 days/week in SF Bay Area with competitive benefits and equity.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry or analytical-related field with 2–4 years of lab experience.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation used in drug candidate analysis.
  • Experience with protein analysis (UV-Vis, CE, Bradford).
  • Experience with carbohydrate analysis and SEC‑MALS is a plus.
  • Familiarity with analytical method development/validation concepts.
  • Excellent record-keeping and data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized and efficient lab workspace.
  • Oversee organization of chemical inventory with proper labeling and storage.
  • Label and organize materials in freezers and refrigerators; ensure accessibility.
  • Support daily lab operations including sample inventory and shipment.
  • Prepare samples for analysis and labelling.
  • Prepare reagents and solutions per protocols.
  • Perform routine analytical tests (Bradford, Lowry, microplate assays).
  • Conduct HPLC (SEC and RP-HPLC) and iCIEF analyses; use Chemstation.
  • Keep accurate records of experiments and inventory; monitor usage and expiry dates.
  • Coordinate ordering and restocking of lab supplies.
  • Collaborate with team to support objectives and deliver tasks on time.

Summary

Vaxcyte is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our Analytical Development team. Primary responsibility for the incumbent will be to support the developmental activities currently ongoing in the laboratory as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain an organized and efficient laboratory workspace for the team
  • Primary responsibility to oversee the organization of chemical inventory, ensuring proper labelling, storage, and compliance with safety regulations
  • Assist in the organization and labelling of materials stored in freezers and refrigerators, ensuring easy access, proper storage and handling of samples and materials
  • Support daily lab operations, including sample inventory and sample shipment
  • Assist in the collection, labelling, and preparation of samples for analysis
  • Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols
  • Perform routine analytical testing by following established protocols, ensuring accurate execution of tests and documentation for proteins and carbohydrates including:
  • Microplate assays including enzymatic assays and colorimetric assays such as Bradford, Lowry, etc.
  • HPLC – Especially SEC and RP‑HPLC with experience in Chemstation
  • CE and iCIEF – Especially with Protein Simple or PA‑800 systems
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of chemicals and reagents, tracking usage and expiration dates
  • Coordinate the ordering and restocking of laboratory supplies as needed
  • Collaborate within a team environment to support and further team objectives
  • Demonstrate flexibility and effectively complete assigned tasks with high quality and in a timely manner
Requirements
  • BS in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry preferred, Organic/Biochemistry considered, with 2–4 years of relevant lab experience
  • Ideal candidate will have a background in analytical chemistry principles and hands‑on experience with modern analytical instrumentation commonly used in the analysis and characterization of drug candidates. Candidates with other scientific disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience
  • Experience in chemical and biological assays such as colorimetric/fluorometric microplate assays and HPLC
  • Experience working with protein analysis – UV‑Vis, CE, Bradford, etc.
  • Experience working with carbohydrate analysis and SEC‑MALS a plus
  • Understanding of basic principles of analytical method development/validation/qualification concepts
  • Attention to detail and excellent skills in record keeping/documentation; critical thinking and ability to analyze data
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats
  • Ability to work under supervision and independently in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment and collaborate effectively with other team members; eagerness and ability to learn and understand new concepts with ease

Compensation

The compensation package will be competitive and includes comprehensive benefits and an equity component.

Salary Range

$105,000 - $123,000 (SF Bay Area). Salary ranges for non‑California locations may vary.
