Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking an Associate Scientist or Scientist to join Dr. Vakoc’s laboratory, a leader in cancer gene regulation and functional genomics.

The role focuses on discovering new therapeutic approaches for childhood cancer and translating fundamental biology into clinical impact. The Vakoc Laboratory uses state-of-the-art genetic, genomic, and biochemical methods, including CRISPR-Cas9 screening, to identify cancer-specific dependencies and potential targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Eight (8) years of relevant work experience; six (6) with a Master’s; three (3) with a PhD.
• Experience with CRISPR-based technologies and functional genomics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and support research using molecular biology, cell biology, and genomics techniques.
• Use DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, mammalian cell culture, cloning, lentiviral systems, and CRISPR technologies.
• Utilize mouse and/or zebrafish models to study gene function and pathways.
• Design, optimize, and execute protocols; analyze data and summarize results.
• Contribute to presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
• Train and supervise lab personnel and maintain operations.
