Zenith LifeScience LLC. in Cambridge, MA is seeking a contract Associate Scientist to join the Chemical Biology and Proteomics group within Discovery Sciences. You will apply proteomics to advance drug discovery and collaborate with cross-functional scientists to enable project progression toward the clinic.
The role covers mammalian cell culture, proteomics assays, data analysis, and reporting. You will maintain detailed electronic notebooks and communicate results in team settings.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist to join Company’s Chemical Biology and Proteomics group within Discovery Sciences. As a contract Associate Scientist you will apply proteomics to advance drug discovery. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of cross-functional scientists and support the development of new and successful therapies for patients.
The Discovery Sciences department develops and applies the latest technologies for target discovery, hit identification and lead optimization across Company’s key therapy areas. The contract Associate Scientist will work in the Chemical Biology and Proteomics group to leverage chemical tools and proteomics technologies to conduct cellular profiling and mechanistic studies to better understand protein targets and therapeutic agents and enable project progression towards the clinic.
Mammalian Cell Culture: Routine maintenance and growth of a couple of cell lines throughout the week, including preparing, mixing components, and filtering media bottles.
Protein Conjugation & Purification: Receiving recombinant antibodies from collaborators in Gaithersburg, Maryland, performing small-scale bioconjugation reactions, purifying, and characterizing them via UV spectroscopy.
Proteomics Assays: Conducting cell-based proteomic sample prep (from whole-cell samples to protein samples), affinity enrichment assays, and running mass spectrometry-based proteomics to observe cell surface changes post-treatment.
Data Analysis: Performing proteomic data analysis using specialized search software.
Design and execute discovery proteomic screens using mass spectrometry to support mechanistic studies, targets, and elucidate disease biology.
Perform proximity biotinylation studies in cells, using established automated affinity purification workflows, and data independent acquisition (DIA) mass spectrometry methods.
Generate protein conjugates and characterize protein labeling.
Analyze and interpret experimental data using established bioinformatic pipelines.
Maintain detailed and accurate electronic laboratory notebooks.
Generate and communicate cohesive scientific reports and participate in meetings within a cross-functional team.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Biology, Biological Sciences or related field, with 1 – 3 years of scientific experience.
Candidate must be self-motivated with a desire to learn, and an ability to effectively work both collaboratively and independently.
Exposure to mammalian cell culture.
Experience interpreting and/or generating scientific figures.
Hands-on experience processing proteomics samples is a plus.
