Job summary

Beckwood Press, headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, seeks an Associate Sales Engineer to join the sales team as an entry-level technical sales professional. You will support the Senior Sales and Applications Engineers through the sales process, learn Beckwood’s product lines, and build customer relationships while developing the skills for more responsibility over time.

You will assist with proposals, CRM data, and order handoffs, and may travel occasionally for customer visits and training

Qualifications

  • Minimum education of an associate’s degree.
  • 0-3 years of professional experience in sales, engineering, manufacturing or a customer-facing technical role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Experience using CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
  • Reading technical drawings and understanding manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Experience preparing proposals or commercial documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Sales team throughout the sales process, from initial inquiries through award.
  • Attend customer meetings and calls to develop technical and commercial knowledge while building relationships.
  • Assist with follow-up, scheduling meetings, and maintaining communication.
  • Serve as a point of contact when seniors are unavailable to ensure a positive experience.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and commercial documents for standard and custom equipment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather information for accurate proposals.
  • Review customer specs, RFQs, Terms & Conditions, and purchase orders for completeness.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and assist with forecast updates and reporting.
  • Support order processing and handoff to Operations after award.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales processes and CRM utilization.

The Associate Sales Engineer is an entry-level technical sales professional responsible for supporting Beckwood's Senior Sales Engineers and Senior Applications Engineers throughout the sales process while gaining the experience and knowledge required to assume greater customer and sales responsibilities over time. This role is intended to develop individuals with the potential to progress into more advanced sales positions as business needs and individual performance align.Benefits & Perks of Beckwood:Beckwood offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including:Competitive salaryQuarterly bonus potentialA team-focused culture with catered lunches, team-building activities, and employee engagement eventsComprehensive benefits package for eligible employees:Health insuranceDental and Vision insuranceLife insuranceAD&D coverageParental leaveFlexible PTO and sick time401(k) with employer contributionWhat You’ll Be Doing:Sales Support & Customer EngagementSupport Senior Sales team members throughout the sales process, from initial customer inquiries through project award.Participate in customer meetings, conference calls, and potentially onsite visits to develop technical and commercial knowledge while building customer relationships.Assist with customer follow-up, scheduling meetings, and maintaining consistent communication throughout the sales cycle.Serve as a point of contact for customers when Senior Sales team members are unavailable, ensuring timely communication and a positive customer experience.Quotation & Proposal Development:Assist in preparing proposals and commercial documentation for standard and custom equipment opportunities.Coordinate with Sales Engineers, Application Engineers, and internal departments to gather information required for accurate proposals.Review customer specifications, RFQ’s, Terms & Conditions, and purchase orders to ensure completeness and identify clarification items.CRM & Sales Operations:Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information, opportunities, and sales activities within the CRM system.Assist with opportunity tracking, forecast updates, and sales reporting to support management and the sales team.Help ensure data integrity and consistency across all sales records and documentation.Support order processing and prepare documentation required for a smooth handoff to Operations following project award.Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, documentation, CRM utilization, and internal communication to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales organization.Product Knowledge & Technical Development:Develop a strong understanding of Beckwood’s product lines and related technologies.Build knowledge of customer applications, manufacturing processes, and targeted industries through hands-on exposure and mentorship.Participate in internal product training, engineering discussions, and project reviews to expand technical expertise.Observe and support technical presentations, equipment demonstrations, and customer consultations conducted by Senior Sales team members.Market & Business Development:Assist with researching prospective customers, emerging markets, and industry trends.Support lead qualification, trade show follow-up, and marketing initiatives designed to expand Beckwood’s customer base.Professional Development:Work closely with Senior Sales team members through a structured mentorship process designed to expand technical, commercial, sales process, and customer relationship skills.Gradually assume greater responsibility for customer interactions, quotations, and sales activities as knowledge, experience, and demonstrated performance increase.Continuously develop the skills necessary to support future opportunities for advancement within Beckwood’s sales organization.Top Internal Customers:Senior Sales Team Members – Serve as a versatile sales resource by supporting the Senior Sales team across a wide range of commercial, technical, and administrative activities, helping ensure opportunities continue moving forward while improving the overall efficiency of the sales organization.Project Engineering & Accounting – Provide detailed and accurate documentation for order processing to ensure a smooth handoff to operations.What We’re Looking For:Required Qualifications:Minimum education associate’s degree.
