Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with risk assessments that evaluate how flooding, wildfires, severe storms, and changing climate conditions may affect community assets and infrastructure.
  • Support LCMS staff and community leaders in identifying growth and development goals and incorporating resiliency into comprehensive and community plans.
  • Help develop hazard mitigation plans and identify and prioritize mitigation measures using risk analysis, community input, and planning best practices.
  • Participate in public meetings, workshops, and outreach activities to gather input from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare, edit, and review reports, presentations, and other planning materials that clearly communicate findings, recommendations, and project progress to communities, decision-makers, and funding agencies.

  • Working knowledge of planning principles, particularly land use regulation, environmental planning, and disaster resiliency.
  • Proficiency in research methods and data collection relevant to community planning and hazard mitigation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
