Job summary
Abbott is seeking an Associate Research Scientist II to advance diagnostics in the Cancer Diagnostics Division at the San Diego location. You will conduct bench experiments, analyze data, and help translate research ideas into product development for diagnostic assays.
The role requires experience in NGS assay development and liquid handling instrumentation, with opportunities to contribute to project planning, data presentation, and collaboration across teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years hands-on experience in molecular biology/biochemical techniques.
- Basic understanding of GMP, ISO, and Quality Systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Conduct bench level experiments and identify problems.
- Plan and analyze results with some guidance.
- Operate scientific instrumentation and report issues.
- Prepare data for abstracts/conferences/publications and summaries.
- Maintain lab notebooks and follow ISO/QSR requirements.
- Present results at project or departmental meetings.
