Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Research Director – Complex Care based in the United States

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the care of individuals facing serious, complex medical conditions. As Associate Research Director, you will lead research efforts for complex healthcare cases, helping clients navigate medical information and identify the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment options. You will analyze clinical histories, interpret laboratory and molecular diagnostic results, and evaluate the latest medical evidence, including emerging therapies and clinical trials. Working closely with clinicians, clients, and leading medical experts, you will translate complex research into clear, practical guidance that supports informed healthcare decisions. The role combines scientific rigor, critical thinking, and compassionate client engagement. You will join a collaborative, fully remote team committed to advancing personalized, evidence-based care.

Accountabilities
  • Participate in client-facing discussions alongside clinicians, presenting research findings, explaining available options, and supporting informed shared decision-making.
  • Review and analyze patient medical records and clinical histories, extracting and tracking relevant information such as laboratory values, symptoms, medication histories, and treatment outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical literature reviews across relevant clinical and research topics, comparing study findings and translating complex evidence into accessible, patient-friendly summaries.
  • Interpret molecular diagnostic results and laboratory testing, providing accurate insights to support clinical assessments and care decisions.
  • Research, evaluate, and prioritize individualized diagnostic and treatment options based on established standards of care, current professional guidelines, and emerging investigational approaches.
  • Identify and engage relevant key opinion leaders and medical experts to obtain specialized perspectives that can inform treatment strategies.
  • Search for and assess appropriate clinical trials by using research databases, reviewing supporting evidence, building tracking spreadsheets, and contacting trial sites when necessary.
  • Develop clear, informative patient education materials, including written reports, presentations, spreadsheets, graphs, and charts covering clinical history, diagnoses, and potential treatment pathways.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, colleagues, and external experts to ensure research findings are relevant, accurate, and aligned with each client's needs.
Requirements
  • A PhD in a scientific or healthcare-related field is required.
  • Early-career professional experience working with complex medical disorders or conditions.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) combined with orthopedic or physical therapy experience.
  • Experience in women's health, such as pelvic floor physical therapy, is an advantage.
  • Strong research capabilities and familiarity with evidence-based research methods and medical literature databases, including PubMed and Google Scholar.
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific publications, compare clinical study findings, and translate complex medical information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret clinical histories, laboratory results, and diagnostic information accurately.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a service-oriented approach to supporting clients and building trusted relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with clinicians, colleagues, and external medical experts.
  • Adaptability, resourcefulness, and initiative, with the ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines and in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage individual responsibilities while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
Benefits
  • Annual base salary range: $110,000–$120,000 USD.
  • Annual cash incentive program.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Access to healthcare navigation and support services for employees and their dependents through the company's internal program.
  • Additional benefits as part of the total compensation package.
  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Candidates must reside in the United States and perform all work physically within the country.
