Job summary

Leidos Energy is seeking an Associate Relay Settings Engineer to join the Framingham, MA team. You will work with protection engineers to develop relay settings, create IEC61850 diagrams, and coordinate with clients and remote offices on substation and renewable projects.

This hybrid role requires 2–3 days in the Framingham office, with travel to sites and labs as needed. A BSEE and experience with relay coordination tools is preferred.

Leidos Energy is hiring for an Associate Relay Settings Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced Framingham, MA organization. As a core team member you will interact with other electric utility disciplines and play a valuable part in leading and designing utility substation and renewable energy projects. This is a hybrid position with two to three days a week in the Framingham, MA office. Travel to customer sites and in-office / testing lab as needed is required.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
• Create logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations.
• Work directly with clients as well as other staff in remote office locations.
• Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
• Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation.
• Solve challenging substation engineering problems.

What does Leidos need from me?

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• Capable of creating relay settings and logic diagrams, understanding Aspen OneLiner and/or Siemens' CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis, and applying knowledge of protective relay coordination studies.
• Ability to learn the development of relay settings for microprocessor relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others for both transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance and Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers and buses).
• Become proficient with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista and Schneider Electric MiCOM software.
• Basic knowledge of implementing control and protection schemes including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic to complete the schemes is a plus.
• Strong engineering and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with a passion for quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required when interfacing with clients and staff.

Favorable if you have:

• Applicable internship/Co-op experience.
• Experience preparing technical reports.
• Experience understanding power system protection.
• Ability to travel overnight on occasional basis.
• Ability to effectively work in a fast paced team environment.
• EIT License.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
