Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• Capable of creating relay settings and logic diagrams, using Aspen OneLiner and CAPE for coordination and fault analysis.
• Knowledge of protective relay coordination studies and microprocessor relays (SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB).
• Proficiency with AcSELerator QuickSet, EnerVista and MiCOM software.
• Ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams and to design relay logic.

Leidos Energy is hiring for an Associate Relay Settings Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced Framingham, MA organization. As a core team member you will interact with other electric utility disciplines and play a valuable part in leading and designing utility substation and renewable energy projects. This is a hybrid position with two to three days a week in the Framingham, MA office. Travel to customer sites and in-office / testing lab as needed is required. What you’ll be doing:

• Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
• Create logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations.
• Work directly with clients as well as other staff in remote office locations.
• Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
• Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation.
• Solve challenging substation engineering problems.

What does Leidos need from me?

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• Capable of creating relay settings and logic diagrams, understanding Aspen OneLiner and/or Siemen’s CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis, and applying knowledge of protective relay coordination studies.
• Ability to learn the development of relay settings for microprocessor relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others for both transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance and Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers and buses).
• Become proficient with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista and Schneider Electric MiCOM software.
• Basic knowledge of implementing control and protection schemes including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic to complete the schemes is a plus.
• Strong engineering and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with a passion for quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required when interfacing with clients and staff.

Favorable if you have:

• Applicable internship/Co-op experience.
• Experience preparing technical reports.
• Experience understanding power system protection.
• Ability to travel overnight on occasional basis.
• Ability to effectively work in a fast paced team environment.
• EIT License.
