Job summary

Unither Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Analytical Chemist in Rochester, NY, to perform analyses of materials following cGMPs and support method development and validation. The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemistry and relevant experience, particularly with laboratory techniques such as HPLC. Your role

Reporting to the QC Supervisor - Finished Products

JOB SUMMARY: This position performs analyses of materials, drug substances and drug products following cGMPs. Supports method development activities and performs method validations with supervision. Maintains and proposes improvements to lab quality systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform, interpret, evaluate, and record routine and some non‑routine analytical lab tests of materials, drug substances and drug products following CGMPs.
• Execute protocols and experiments as written.
• Maintain, calibrate, and set up instrumentation.
• Ensure supply of test materials for daily testing.
• Maintain and update training records.
• Support method development/validation and method transfer activities.
• Proactively identify issues, propose and implement solutions.
• Troubleshoot laboratory issues and support investigations.
• Support investigation writing under supervision.
• Recommend improvements to procedures.
• Maintain laboratory in compliance with SOPs, cGMPs, HS&E requirements and regulatory agencies.
• Implement and monitor training to meet GMP, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Monitor training effectiveness and adjust approach.
• Coordinate training needs with supervisor or manager.
• Possibly support investigations, troubleshooting, and method development with supervision.
• Write basic investigations under supervision.

Your profile

• A.A.S. with 5+ years or B.S. with 2+ years experience in chemistry or related science discipline.

Specific Skills

• Experience with laboratory analytical techniques.
• Operate & maintain HPLC systems and/or dissolution equipment and spectroscopic instrumentation (UV/Vis, FTIR).
• Experience with HPLC method development & validation in a pharmaceutical environment (desirable).
• Experience in written notebook documentation practices.

Computer Skills

• Basic Outlook skills: creating and sending messages, managing tasks.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word skills: produce letters, simple tables, diagrams.
• Intermediate Excel skills: use formulas, charts, filtering, sorting, formatting.
• Familiarity with LIMS and instrument operating software.

Physical Requirements / Environment

• Visual acuity, color recognition, finger dexterity.
• Read, write and communicate in English.
• Work involves chemical and biological agents.
• Sitting ~50% of the day and standing ~50%.
• Repetitive hand use and keyboarding.
• Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
• Occasional weekends, holidays and irregular hours.

Scope of Decision Making

Decisions require basic/routine analytical judgment. Plan and perform diversified duties requiring knowledge of a particular field and the use of a wide range of procedures. Involves exercise of judgment in the analysis of facts or conditions to determine appropriate action within guidelines or standard practice.

Compensation Range

• 22.00 – 25.00 USD (minimum and maximum compensation for this job).
