Reporting to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, the Associate Provost is a senior academic administrator who partners with the Provost and Dean of the Faculty in leading the University’s academic enterprise, with responsibilities spanning academic policy, accreditation, and faculty affairs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Support

• Serve as advisor and delegate to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, providing leadership in executing the University’s academic vision and priorities.
• Act on behalf of the Provost in their absence or as otherwise assigned, representing Academic Affairs in internal and external forums.
• Collaborate with department chairs and academic leaders to advance academic excellence across programs.

Operational Oversight

• Oversee the implementation and administration of academic policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership in academic policy development and ensure compliance with institutional standards and accreditation requirements.
• Administer the distribution and processing of semester student course evaluations.
• Serve as the administrative member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), supporting the Chair and ensuring compliance with human subjects research protocols.

Accreditation & Compliance

• Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies related to academic affairs.
• Coordinate academic program review and assessment processes to drive continuous improvement.

Faculty & Academic Development

• Partner with the Provost to oversee faculty hiring, development, and evaluation processes.
• Lead orientation and onboarding for new faculty members.
• Coordinate faculty development programming, including the annual faculty in-service program.
• Serve as a point of contact for faculty on administrative matters connected to instruction and office operations.
• Act as a liaison between Academic Affairs and other University divisions to foster cross-functional alignment and efficiency.
• Communicate academic initiatives, policies, and outcomes clearly to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Earned doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• A demonstrated history of progressive academic administrative leadership in higher education.
• Prior experience chairing a committee, department, or comparable academic body.
• Expertise in academic planning, program development, and accreditation processes.
• Proven ability to build consensus and collaborate effectively across diverse constituencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and data clearly.
• A demonstrated track record of resolving complex academic and administrative challenges.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with regional and programmatic accreditation standards, including Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) standards.
• Experience with institutional assessment and program review processes.
• Experience at a small, mission-driven, or faith-based institution of higher education.
