Job summary

Siemens in Wendell, NC is seeking an Associate Project Manager for the PM Next program within Electrification and Automation and P&A teams. This hybrid role expects 2-3 days in the office and offers a structured development pathway to become a future Project Manager through training, mentorship, and hands-on project experience.

You will support the Project Management team across project phases, coordinate schedules, prepare status updates, and ensure documentation and closeout requirements,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • Project management or engineering internship experience.
  • Basic knowledge of power distribution and ability to read electrical drawings.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Travel up to 10% (national and international).
  • Preferred: mechanical/electrical engineering or business administration background.
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager across all project phases, including milestones, documentation, case management, financial tracking and progress through closeout.
  • Collaborate with Customer Care to develop use cases for project acceptance and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare monthly status reports, updates, change proposals and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Lead customer acceptance milestones and ensure documentation, equipment acceptance, and financial closeout requirements.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of project schedules and align with site teams.

About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

Siemens’ PMO is looking for an Associate Project Manager to join our team in Electrification and Automation and Protection and Automation (P&A) Team . This role is based in Wendell, NC and is a hybrid role with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in office.

As part of Siemens’ PM Next Program, you will join a structured project management development pathway designed to prepare future Project Managers for long-term success within our PMO organization. The program combines formal training, mentorship, shadowing opportunities, and practical project experience to build project management expertise while developing an understanding of our products, customers, and business processes. Successful participants will transition into one of several PMO verticals upon completion of the program.

As an APM, you will be responsible for supporting the Project Management team for the successful execution of projects, from project initiation through final closeout. You will work in a matrix style organization requiring excellent coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.   • Support the Project Manager across all project phases, including milestone deliverables, documentation, case management, financial tracking, and ensuring overall project progress from initiation through closeout.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Care team to develop use cases that support project acceptance and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and deliver monthly status reports, customer progress updates, change proposals, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Lead and drive final customer acceptance milestones, ensuring completion of all required documentation, equipment acceptance, and financial closeout requirements.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of project schedules, aligning with project and site teams to identify and manage time-sensitive needs.
  • Track project resources and progress; participate in and, when needed, lead customer meetings while capturing detailed notes throughout all project phases—from kickoff through punch list completion.
  • Capture and manage punch lists from site commissioning, driving closure through cross-functional coordination with Siemens field service technicians, Customer Care, project managers, factory personnel, and vendors; provide regular updates to customers and site teams.
  • Coordinate onboarding/orientation of field service technicians with Customer Care, ensuring they are equipped with all necessary project documentation (scope of work, drawings, specifications, engineered drawings, and project contacts) and prepared ahead of site visits.
  • Schedule project-specific commissioning resources, provide required documentation, and ensure readiness of all field personnel prior to site execution.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Project management or engineering internship work experience
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of power distribution; ability to read and understand basic electrical drawings and customer specifications.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States
  • 10% Travel required (national and international)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Business Administration preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
