Job summary

Exponent Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate for an Associate Project Manager role in its Construction Consulting Practice in Oakland, CA.

You will manage large electric transmission projects from pre-construction to close-out, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery and reporting to leadership. You will coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, prepare forecasts, and drive risk management and change controls while using industry tools like Primavera P6 and Power BI to track progress and

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Engineering or similar (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of 4+ years in electric utility, heavy industrial, or large infrastructure projects in PM/engineering/risks/contractor management.
• Strong experience in construction PM and project controls.
• Proven ability to work across multiple projects and with external clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage projects to meet schedule, cost, and scope.
• Develop schedules, budgets, and risk management plans.
• Manage cost performance, reporting, and financial forecasts to stakeholders.
• Perform change control and implement risk mitigations.
• Coordinate project teams and stakeholders (engineers, contractors, regulators, etc.).
• Provide reporting to executives and analysts; track KPIs and variances.
