Job summary

Exponent Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate for an Associate Project Manager role in its Construction Consulting Practice in Oakland, CA.

You will manage large electric transmission projects from pre-construction to close-out, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery and reporting to leadership. You will coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, prepare forecasts, and drive risk management and change controls while using industry tools like Primavera P6 and Power BI to track progress and

Qualifications

B.S. in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Engineering or similar (advanced degree preferred).
Minimum of 4+ years in electric utility, heavy industrial, or large infrastructure projects in PM/engineering/risks/contractor management.
Strong experience in construction PM and project controls.
Proven ability to work across multiple projects and with external clients.

Responsibilities

Plan, execute, and manage projects to meet schedule, cost, and scope.
Develop schedules, budgets, and risk management plans.
Manage cost performance, reporting, and financial forecasts to stakeholders.
Perform change control and implement risk mitigations.
Coordinate project teams and stakeholders (engineers, contractors, regulators, etc.).
Provide reporting to executives and analysts; track KPIs and variances.
