School of Social Work

The School offers degrees at various levels (BSW, MSW, DSW, PhD), including an online MSW program via SocialWork@Simmons. The Online Practicum Education Specialist will collaborate closely with the Associate Director to support the Practicum Department, especially given the influx of students and new practicum relationships across the country.

Position Overview

This is a full-time, twelve-month position, faculty rank commensurate with experience (Associate or Professor of Practice). The role can be remote or based on the Boston campus.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Assist in designing and implementing department policies and initiatives.
2. Contribute to curriculum development, including courses and the online Practicum Education Lab.
3. Participate in weekly department meetings, maintaining practicum student records and addressing issues.
4. Update orientation and training materials for practicum liaisons.
5. Lead training with our online placement partners, including needs assessment and delivery.
6. Orient, supervise, and provide ongoing support to up to 20 adjunct practicum liaisons.
7. Mediate and conduct support meetings for practicum-related concerns.
8. Collaborate with academic advising and instructors on practicum issues.
9. Facilitate monthly team meetings and collaborate on placement processes and student concerns.
10. Engage in weekly meetings with the practicum department and online placement managers to resolve issues and improve systems.
11. Contribute to program and school committees, including aligning SW@Simmons with the on-ground MSW program.

Qualifications

• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
• Highest licensure in the practicing state
• 5+ years supervision of MSW students
• 5+ years administrative experience
• Previous practicum education and online teaching experience preferred
