The School of Social Work offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels (BSW, MSW, DSW, PhD). The MSW program is available both on-ground and online via SocialWork@Simmons (SW@S). The Online Practicum Education Specialist collaborates with the Associate Director to support the Practicum Department, managing student influx, onboarding practicum liaisons, providing ongoing support, and negotiating relationships with agencies across the country.

This is a full-time, twelve-month faculty position at a level commensurate with experience (Associate or Professor of Practice). It can be remote or on campus in Boston.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Associate Director in designing and implementing department policies and initiatives.
  2. Contribute to curriculum development, including courses and the online Practicum Education Lab.
  3. Participate in weekly department meetings, maintaining the practicum database and resolving issues.
  4. Update orientation and training materials for practicum liaisons.
  5. Lead training with our online partner, identifying needs, delivering training, and providing consultation.
  6. Orient, supervise, and support up to 20 adjunct practicum liaisons.
  7. Mediate and conduct student support meetings for practicum concerns.
  8. Collaborate with academic advising and instructors on practicum-related academic issues.
  9. Facilitate monthly team meetings and collaborate on placement issues and improvements.
  10. Participate in weekly meetings with the practicum department and online placement managers.
  11. Contribute to program and School committees, including efforts to align SW@S with the on-ground MSW program.
Qualifications
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Highest licensure in the practicing state
  • 5+ years supervision of MSW students
  • 5+ years administrative experience
  • Previous practicum education experience preferred
  • Previous online education experience preferred
