Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Associate Professor (GFT) in Neonatology. The successful candidate will provide education, supervise clinical care in the NICU, and lead fellowship activities.

Responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; managing neonates, especially high-risk cases; and contributing to scholarly activities and program development within the Department of Pediatrics.

Qualifications

  • New York State Medical Licensure required.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency.
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics.
  • Completion or ongoing fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine; board certification or eligibility for NPM.
  • Possesses or eligible for DEA Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education, clinical supervision and formal teaching to medical students, residents and fellows in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Deliver clinical care and manage neonatal and infant patients, emphasizing high-risk neonates.
  • Serve as attending of record in the UHD NICU, diagnose and treat NICU patients and support families.
  • Participate in the administration and activities of the ACGME-accredited fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine.
  • Lead rounds, document medical records, and coordinate care with NICU team and families.
  • Supervise residents and participate in interviews/recruitment and evaluations.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and potential research or grants.
