The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking a pathologist experienced in blood banking and apheresis. The service site is at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Blood bank services include quality management, proper blood usage, and prompt handling of transfusion-related issues. Apheresis services include stem cell collection, red cell exchange, plasma exchange, photopheresis, and other therapeutic procedures. The service load is relatively light, with two other pathologists participating. The new faculty member will also participate in medical services in another specialty or conduct biomedical research. Teaching residents and staff is also part of the duties.
This position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on experience. Candidates should have a medical degree (MD or MD/PhD) and be board-certified/eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology or related fields. Fellowship training in Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine is preferred but not required if candidates are eligible for other certifications.
