Texas A&M University-Central Texas (A&M-Central Texas) was established in 2009 as an upper-level undergraduate (junior and senior level classes only) and graduate institution within the Texas A&M University System. In 2010, the U.S. Army donated 600+ acres of land for our campus, which has four buildings. A&M-Central Texas is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and COBA is AACSB accredited.
A&M-Central Texas is located on the southern edge of Killeen, TX, a city of over 150,000 and adjacent to Fort Cavazos, the largest Army installation in the world. Killeen is about an hour north of Austin and just a few miles west of the I-35 corridor, one of North America’s fastest-growing trans-metropolitan regions. The area is known for its lower cost of living, friendly people, and the ability to choose one’s lifestyle due to the favorable location and ease of travel.
The university is designated as a Hispanic-serving institution. COBA students generally classify as non-traditional, with a substantial number working part- or full-time. Many students are military-affiliated (active duty, spouse, veteran, and other dependents).
