Your Role

As a Scientist with MilliporeSigma, your role is to support and troubleshoot for our plasma and serum based Enzymes and Proteins product lines. You will work with other production scientists and operators, and SMEs to ensure successful manufacturing of an established line of products and troubleshoot and investigate process issues that arise. You will write and modify procedures consistent with quality guidelines and identify potential process improvements while interacting cross-functionally with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Packaging, Materials Management, Engineering and Maintenance. This position is based in St. Louis at 3500 Dekalb Street St. Louis, MO.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform operations safely to meet quality expectations.
  2. Execute multi-disciplined processes, assays, and/or unit operations, especially those requiring higher skill and knowledge.
  3. Support lab functions such as maintaining equipment, preparing reagents, restocking supplies, and waste disposal.
  4. Communicate operation status and deviations to supervisors.
  5. Complete logbooks according to procedures.
  6. Participate in quality audits as needed.
  7. Perform in-process testing and assays accurately.
  8. Identify issues and limitations in analysis.
  9. Perform routine troubleshooting.
  10. Improve processes through scientific application in accordance with change control procedures.
  11. Participate in process improvements under supervision.
  12. Ensure safety protocols are followed to resolve unsafe conditions.
  13. Evaluate products and intermediates analytically.
  14. Handle products of human origin.
Physical Attributes
  • Wearing personal protective equipment such as respirators or chemical protective clothing.
  • Lifting and pushing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science or Engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering).
Preferred
  • Knowledge in chemistry, biochemistry, math, and general science.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments and production equipment.
  • Experience with analytical techniques and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
