Job description

Job Overview

The Associate Product Manager is learning the full craft of product management by doing the work, not just supporting it. Within a defined feature scope, the APM is accountable for understanding the customer problem behind every feature, translating that understanding into clear requirements, and tracking whether the shipped work moved the intended metric. The role asks "why" before "what." Success is measured by the impact on customer behavior or business metrics, demonstrated with data.

Job Responsibilities
1. Product Learning & Growth
  • Owns a feature end to end, ensuring it solves the customer problem designed to solve.
  • Seeks and applies feedback proactively from the PM, engineering, and design partners.
  • Treats every launch as a learning event, defining metrics before shipping, monitoring data after launch, and providing insights.
  • Develops product craft and AI fluency, using AI tools to accelerate documentation and research.
  • Maintains current understanding of the product area, customer experience, and emerging tech trends.
2. Customer Problem Understanding
  • Grounds every feature in a specific customer problem before writing requirements.
  • Identifies the specific customer behavior the feature is designed to change.
  • Participates in end‑user research and VOC sessions, bringing structured observations back to the team.
  • Tests ideas and prototypes with real customers, awaiting post‑launch data confirmation.
  • Looks for patterns in feedback, defect reports, and behavioral data to surface unmet needs.
3. Product Strategy & Vision
  • Understands the product strategy and connects feature work to broader product goals.
  • Tracks outcomes, not just delivery, measuring feature impact on customer behavior.
  • Contributes to feature set and positioning strategies, offering prioritization perspectives based on data.
  • Develops understanding of competitive landscape and shares relevant market insights.
4. Stakeholder Alignment
  • Builds relationships with PXDI, engineering, and data partners, aligning early.
  • Keeps partners informed proactively on status, blockers, and outcomes.
  • Participates in cross‑functional meetings and follows up on action items independently.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on release planning, supporting go‑to‑market.
5. Communication
  • Owns communication of feature performance and next steps, specifying customer behavior and measurement.
  • Communicates clearly in writing and meetings, delivering concise, actionable documentation.
  • Shares post‑launch data with a clear interpretation.
  • Communicates defect status and resolution until fully resolved.
6. Data & Financial Acumen
  • Reads product analytics independently and identifies key metrics each feature should move.
  • Uses AI to accelerate analysis but owns interpretation and recommendation.
  • Monitors post‑launch data, identifying gaps and hypothesizing causes.
7. Ownership & Autonomy
  • Challenges requirements, assumptions, and scope with reasoned pushback.
  • Escalates right problems early, taking initiative on ambiguous directions.
  • Writes detailed acceptance criteria and documentation, critically reviewing AI drafts.
  • Assists with backlog grooming, ensuring defects are prioritized by impact.
  • Acct. for downstream quality, not just submission.
8. Experience & AI Tools
  • Applies AI tools to core APM work while maintaining quality and judgment.
  • Directs AI for drafts, then reviews to catch gaps.
  • Stays current on evolving AI tooling relevant to product work, identifying friction reduction opportunities.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of related work experience, or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of relevant Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment (preferred).
