Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Madison, WI is seeking an Associate Process Technician to provide routine technical support to engineers and scientists on standard components, devices, materials, products, processes and equipment.

You will operate manufacturing and process equipment, test prototypes, read engineering specs, and assist with assembly, modification, and repair of electronic, optical or mechanical units while maintaining safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
• Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices.
• Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
• Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
• Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and Labview.
• Experience with MRP a plus.
• Must have good hand and eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Operate various types of manufacturing, material growth reactors and or process equipment to conduct complex experiments or to grow custom materials.
• Provide routine technical support to engineers and scientists on standard components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment
• Responsibilities may include testing, modifying, reworking, repairing, and building electronic, optical or mechanical assemblies.
• Work from standard wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches
• Design and/or test prototype assemblies and production units
• Capable of performing related manufacturing processes
• Interpret and follow documents such as SOPs and safety rules
• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification
• Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials
• Perform Key Performance Indicators: Quality of finished product (Pass/fail rates), Raw material stock levels, Compliance outcomes
• Position requires the ability to coordinate several activities at the same time, and to reprioritize in response to changing operational conditions
• Ability to read, and possibly develop, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion, and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

The Right Candidate Will Bring

• The ability to work in a cleanroom environment while wearing full gowning/PPE for extended periods.
• Familiarity with semiconductor wafer handling and contamination-control practices.
• Ability to work safely around chemicals, gases, vacuum systems, and other semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Exposure to III/V semiconductor materials and processes such as metrology, microscopy, wet processing, photolithography, thin films, etch, deposition, or similar fabrication steps.

The salary range for this position is $17.92/hour - $25.63. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
