Job summary

The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is seeking an Associate Teacher to support the Preschool program. The role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing classroom, assisting with lesson plans, supervising children, and maintaining organized spaces across classrooms.

Qualified candidates have at least 21 years old, 2+ years of preschool experience, an AA degree, and teacher permit eligibility; CPR/First Aid and background checks are required. This is an on-site position in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• 2+ years of experience working with infant, toddler or preschool-aged children.
• AA degree required.
• Hold or be eligible for a Teacher permit or be permit eligible, with at least 3 administrative units and 2 adult supervision units. 6 administrative units preferred.
• Available Monday–Friday during program hours for year-round preschool operations, alternating shifts between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• YMCA approved EMSA CPR/First Aid certification
• Submit health screening, immunizations, and TB test clearance prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
• Fingerprint background check clearance through Community Care Licensing
• Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages spoken by program participants and families.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement developmentally and age appropriate lesson plans and activities for children ages 0–6.
• Implement curriculum, daily routines, and classroom management strategies.
• Provide support across multiple classrooms by "floating" to assist where needed.
